DESCRIPTION:Diese Woche zeigen wir auf dem Hambi-Camp in Manheim die Brand-Trilogie von Susanne Fasbender\, die in eindrucksvollen und manchmal surreal beklemmenden Bildern aus dem rheinischen Braunkohlerevier – insbesondere dem Hambi – die epische\, generationsübergreifende Zerstörung durch Rohstoffabbau & Landnahme im Kontext von Wirtschaftswachstum und Klimakrise beleuchtet. \nBrand I: Vom Eigentum an Land und Wäldern\nBrand II: Gegenwart der Dörfer und Bepreisung von Natur\nDer jahrzehntelange\, alles beherrschende Zugriff auf das Land hat die Atmosphäre in der Region zutiefst geprägt. Alles scheint verletzt oder ist in tragischer Erwartung. Die kommende Zerstörung des noch ruhig da Liegenden ist auch in den noch bewohnten Orten allgegenwärtig. Die schon unbewohnten Dörfer sind von Menschen verwaist\, während die Vögel den Wildwuchs ihrer Gärten und Parks mit ihrem Gesang begleiten. Die ungezählten uralten hohen Bäume\, die die alten Orte bekleiden\, werden\, wenn es losgeht\, als erstes beseitigt. \nBRAND II erzählt von der Zerstörung einer jahrhundertealten Kulturlandschaft für den Braunkohleabbau im Rheinland bis ins Jahr 2027 hinein. „Der Film macht die Tiefe dieses existentiellen Einschnitts begreifbar\, den nicht nur die erzwungene Umsiedlung\, sondern das Wissen um die restlose Vernichtung dessen\, was das Wort „Zuhause“ mit all seinen bis in die Sprache\, bis in die Tradition der Gewerke und einige jahrhunderte alte Familien-geschichten besser trifft\, als der hoch aufgeladene und politisch leider missbrauchte Begriff „Heimat.“ [https://www.brandfilme.org/] \nDie Vorführung beginnt um ca. 20.00 Uhr im großen Versammlungszelt. Impressive and sometimes surreal oppressive scenes from the coal country of Rhineland (and in particular the Hambi) depict the epic devastation caused by resource extraction & land grabbing in context of the economic growth paradigm and the climate crisis – a process that has been affecting this region across generations now. \nTuesday\, October 23rd\nBrand I: On property rights to land and forests\nBrand II: Presence of old places and costing nature\nThe decade-long\, domineering seizure of land has deeply marked the character of the region. Everything appears violated or remains in tragic expectation. The coming destruction of what lies restfully is equally omnipresent in the still inhabited villages. The already uninhabited villages have been abandoned by people\, while birds accompany the wild growth in gardens and parks with their song. The count-less\, ancient high trees that dress the old localities will be removed first of all when demolition starts. \nBRAND ll portrays the destruction of a century-old cultural landscape for the extraction of lignite in the Rhineland up until 2027. It makes the scope of this existential interference tangible: forced displacement and the knowledge that the place you call home is being put to waste – everything down to language\, traditional crafts\, and several hundreds of years old family histories. The conversation about the societal relationship to nature\, the Kyoto Protocol and the concept of the imperial mode of living will be continued and interwoven into the pictures of this country.
