Internationaler Aktionstag

Call for the International Action Day on the 1st of August 2014

The brown coal mine in the German Rheinland (between Cologne and Aachen) with its three open cast mines and coal power plants is one of the biggest climate killers in Europe. Every year, more than 100 million tons of CO2 are being released into the atmosphere. Villages, forests, and fields have been disappearing for decades now being replaced by the largest strip mine in Europe.
Part of the energy goes into the heavy-industry and chemical industry behind which the weapon industry of “Rheinmetall” lay hidden. The other part of the produced energy is being exported.
This is where the resistance collides with the interests of big companies and politics. Since 2012, the ancient Hambach Forest has been occupied. It shall be destroyed completely for the open cast mine Hambach. With creative and radical resistance, we stand against the uprooting of the forest and coal mining. Houses are being occupied, coal trains stopped, street theaters, demonstrations, camps and sabotages are being organised.
To spread this protest, to feel it and make it uncontrollable, we send out a call for the decentralised International Action Day on the 1st of August 2014. Let’s shake the existing conditions. Let’s see the fights all over the world in one context. Let’s stand up together.

Also, from the 26th of July to the 3rd of August there will be the Climate Camp here in the Rheinland, in the ghost village of Borschemich close to Erkelenz. It lays on the edge to the open cast mine Gartsweiler and soon shall be dug up by giant machines.

Sorry, aber mich hindert das ein wenig daran, euch ernst zu nehmen (was ich eigentlich will) und mitzumachen. Sorry, aber is so…
